With the title Ladies First, the Galerie Maria Lund, Paris gives a humorous nod to gallantry by dedicating the project for its first participation at Enter to women artists: Five artists, including three Koreans based in France – Min Jung-Yeon, Yoo Hye-Sook and Yoon Ji-Eun – and two French artists – Elise Peroi and Farida Le Suave. Women with artistic universes that are powerful and delicate. Women with remarkable careers. Women with varied practices: painting, drawing, wooden reliefs, ceramic sculpture and weaving.The five artists pay close attention to work on matter. Through their respective techniques, they seek randomness and a form of chaos or, on the contrary, meticulousness, mastery and control. Their works engage their bodies and their breaths. Repeated gestures transform the creative process into meditation. Some push matter to its breaking points, towards imbalance, in a discourse encompassing fragility and the difficulties to hold. Nature, bodies, movement, emotions and temporality are at the heart of their universes.
